At this page I will place some tutorials.
I will show an example of sculpting a face and how I attach the hair of my
dolls.
For this doll I sculpted the eyes out of Fimo. For a
head of 1,8 inch I needed eyes of 0.2 inch, so very tiny. I made a tiny
roll of black Cernit and put a very thin layer of light brown on it. Than
I put a somewhat thicker layer of white Fimo on it. I cut the roll into
small pieces. With my thumbs I made the top of the piece nice and round
and pinched the bottom together and rolled it between my fingers till
I had a round form. Than I baked the eyes.
From this.............. to this
I put a small layer of clay in the eye sockets and on
the front for the face.
I placed the eyes in the head and put some clay round the eyes. As you
can see I put several pieces of clay on the form. One piece above the
eyes on the forhead to form the eyebrows and the eyesockets. For the nose
I put a small strip of clay between the eyes and for the cheekbones pieces
of clay under the eyes and under the nose one piece for the upperjaw and
upperlip.
At first it looks awful, do you agree??
I use the Dutch styrofoam for the inside for my doll head. But you can
make the same shape out of alu foil. The head is 1,2 inch. On the left
you see the side of the form and on the right the front.
I made holes for the eyesockets and covered the styrofoam with alu foil.
I put a tick piece of clay for the jaw and the chin.
As you can see also the lips are already in place that way.
Make the bottom of the nose flat and form already the
nosewings a bit. I made all the edges of the added pieces nice and smooth.
On top of the head I put a small layer of clay to get the right proportions
of the face.
Now I put a small layer of clay on the cheeks. Smooth
out the edges real nice, but keep the form of the face intact.
I smoothen out the layers I put on the cheeks.
Put tiny pieces of clay just below the brows
and connect them with the cheekbones and work them out.
Make the lips a bit round and form the chin by putting a round tool half
way the lip and the bottom of the chin.
To give the eyebrows their form put a roll of clay above
the eyes. I worked out the claypieces and gave the lips a bit of form.
Put some tiny pieces of clay next to the corners of
the lips and smooth them out.
Make the holes of the nostrils
I worked out the nostrils and nosewings more and with
a tool I drew the lines of the lip.
Looks already a bit better.
I worked out the clay above the eyes towards the eyebrows
and formed the eyelids. I also smoothen the lips and at the corners of
the lips I pushed the clay a bit upwards to give her a little smile.
with a tool I pressed the clay in beside the lower lip
and smooth it.For the eyelids I put pieces of clay above the irisses.
This is how far I am right now. I have to work out the
ears. The base of her body is there but I have to make more details
to it.
I want to give her an armature and a cloth body and
arms and legs that I can move.
And here she is, I have given her wings and I embroided
her dress and also her hair is made of cloth. This is my first angel.
